What to do

With Your Guard

Pick a slow song and sing it on the bus to every competition and all the football games

Have a guard sleep over and make up crazy hooker names for everyone (ex. kinky kiki, kittie sumner, persia, fifi strokes, and tons of other ones...the ones used here are ones used by members of our guard.)

Take the guard bowling and put your hooker names up on the board. Maybe the guy at the mic that night will notice and make fun of you. It really is funnier that it sounds.

Have sectionals to tape flags and really just laugh and joke.

Make up stupid rules. (Ex- "Everytime someone says 'subdivide', jump up and down). Don't tell anyone you're doing this and see how long it takes for people to figure it out.

If your guard is as cool as our guard is and the rest of the band totally mooches all of your fun sayings and moves and stuff, make up a stupid move/saying and have everyone in guard say it a lot, and actually pretend like it's cool. Here you get to see how cool your guard really is, because now you can time how long it takes for the entire band (including band director) to do it and pretend like it's super cool.

Find a deck of cards and do fortunes for every single person's love life. Do them multiple times for each person if the results aren't satisfactory.

Go to fast food restaurants and see how loud you can get before they ask you to leave.

Write letters to boys you like but want to get over telling them exactly what you don't like about them.

Make up a Time-Line for your life. Make sure to include having kids and putting them into guard!

Make up dances to every single stand tune that the band plays at football games. Dance to everything and sing along if possible.

Before every winterguard performance, get into a big circle and stretch together. Put your instructor in the middle and let him/her tell you about the performance you're about to give. Before you go on, take a cleansing breath in and full exhale out.

Before any performance, go over vowels and facial expressions. A E I O U and throw in a sassy X.

If your guard needs to bond, get together and create Guard Boxes. Get a box and put all of your tape and stoppers into it. Then put your name and your colorguard's name on the box in sparkly letters or stencils and put pretty designs all over it.
